Real Wedding: A + J

How is it March?! The sun is literally splitting the skies at the moment and I can’t help but hope that Spring has already arrived and the freezing Edinburgh wind has gone for another year - too optimistic maybe?


Last weekend saw our second wedding of the year. We were out at Harburn Barn for A + J’s big day. Considering it’s February, the weather was AMAZING and some of the guests even ventured outside for part of the reception - who would have thought! A + J had used the lovely stylists at Get Knotted for festoon lights and stunning lace chair backs amongst a few other things. Harburn looked stunning! Their wedding was also our first table picnic since November so it was great to get back into the swing of a full dinner service!

After the ceremony, the reception kicked off with one of our new canapés for the season. A + J had chosen our crab, avocado and pico di gallo served on a tostada alongside the classic caramelised red onion and feta tartlets. Both of these are great choices if you’re looking for canapés that are packed with flavour but still on the lighter side - you want to make sure your guests still have room for dinner right?!


A + J had asked us to manage their day so that they could relax and enjoy the special occasion with their families and friends. Getting your caterer or any supplier to manage your day is so so beneficial if you’re having your wedding at a DIY venue. Everything from moving chairs from the ceremony to dinner to lighting candles and announcing you in is covered and it means you can spend the whole day enjoying your wedding without worrying about the small things.

With speeches finished and glasses raised, we cracked on with dinner service. The chefs pulled it out the bag once again - it looked awesome! A + J had a caponata with flatbreads and marinated feta to start followed by roast chicken with all the trimmings (yes that does include yorkshire puddings) and then not one but TWO desserts. We served up our famous sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and a mixed berry crumble with cream - I don’t think I could have chosen between them!

We had so much fun being part of A + J’s big day and it was so good to be back at Harburn. Congrats guys!
