2019: Wedding Trends

So, we’re already (?!) through January 2019 - well done everyone, we did it! Team Pantry Events are only 2 weeks away from the first wedding of the year! We’re absolutely raring to go and can’t wait to get stuck back into it! Our first one of the year is with our pals at the Cow Shed and is being photographed by our favourite Claire Fleck. With this in mind, we thought we’d enter into the Pinterest wormhole (only to be done with caution!) and see what trends were coming up for this year!

Pampas Grass

O.M.G have we ever been more in love with something?! Since Mandy Moore used this at her wedding, it’s rocketed on to the must have list for 2019. We LOVE it. It could be used to form an arch or as part of a bouquet or as a centerpiece or just to decorate your whole house with right? It’s definitely in keeping with the bohemian feel that some of our couples go for and we’re hoping to see lots of it this year!

Smoke Bombs

We’re not talking about the ones that the DJ brought to the disco when you were 12 that inevitably led to coughing fits and the need for air. We love the colour that smoke bombs can add to wedding pics. Whether they’re used as part of a group shot or to enhance one of the couple, they are awesome. You could even surprise your guests by setting them off as the photo is taken - guaranteed to capture some great expressions!

Rusty Hues

2018 was the year of burgundy tones for weddings. 2019 looks to be the year of rusty tones. We’re not suggesting that you go for a full on burnt orange colour scheme - unless that’s your thing, then crack on! Rust is an easy colour to incorporate into a wedding through flowers, tableware, favours without it staring you in the face.

Eco - Friendly Weddings

David Attenborough had us all shook last year after Blue Planet was aired and it’s definitely woken everyone up about the effects of humans going about their daily lives. Lots of couples are now looking to make their weddings a more eco-friendly party by minimising on waste and sourcing reusable decorations. Eco-friendly doesn’t have to be boring though, just look to use more recyclable products. Source some miniatures in glass bottles for your favours, use dried petal confetti rather than paper, speak to your caterer about food waste - we’ve been at a couple of venues now that have compost heaps which is a great idea!
